The Fairchild Challenge
at Shenandoah Middle School Museums Magnet
The Fairchild Challenge is an annual environmental program created by the Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden, located in Coral Gables, Florida. It contains various options which attract students of all grade levels, interests, abilities, talents and backgrounds. It encourages kids to take control of the world around them, and allows them to take action in their homes, school, and community in regards to environmental issues.
Who can participate?
How long have we been involved in the Challenge?
The Challenge is open to students in grades 6-12. That’s us!
Schools can attempt any number of the nine (9) options available that range from 100 points to 400 points each. Schools pick the best entries to be entered into the competition and are awarded points by a panel of judges. The goal is to get the most points at the end of the challenge. Top scoring schools are given special recognition - a cash prize to support the school’s environmental program!
What are the rules?
This is our third (3) year of participation. Last year, WE WON the top prize, $1,000 even though it was only our second year. That’s our winning photo above.
